Campbell Field

Background

Originally from New Zealand, my first foray into the marine industry was as boat captain of the highly successful first edition of the Swan 60 Highland Fling from 1994 to 2000. This role encompassed all aspects of boat, crew and race management—and gave me my first taste of racing navigation in the early days of GPS, just as the idea of bringing PCs on board yachts was emerging.

Before establishing Field Yachting, I worked at B&G, where I was responsible for all aspects of the Hydra and Hercules product lines, including sales, marketing, customer support, and future product planning.

What I Do

As the owner of Field Yachting Ltd, I provide professional sailing and yacht racing navigation services, electronics and instrument systems consultation, performance and data analysis, and expert training on Expedition Navigation Software—the world's leading strategy and navigation software for racing yachts.

Field Yachting was the first company to sell and support Expedition Navigation Software in 2005. I work closely with Expedition Marine to enhance and improve the product, and am recognised as one of the world's leading experts in its deployment and use. I provide training, support, and webinars based around the use of Expedition.

I have developed my own software tools and apps to meet my needs when sailing, and have made these available to the sailing community.

Location

Based in Lymington on the Solent, I work with sailors across the UK and internationally. Whether it's professional navigation for a major offshore race or remote coaching sessions via video call, I'm here to help you get more from your systems and data.
